

Geraldine Louise Buvinghausen Wolfer, 87, of Houston, entered her Eternal rest on the morning of Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. A member of "The Greatest Generation,” she was born on Aug. 9, 1927, to George and Emmie Buvinghausen. A lifelong resident of Houston Heights, “Mimmie” was a life member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, having entered her relationship with God as an infant , with her entrance through Waters of Holy Baptism. It was there that she confirmed her Faith, married her husband, and raised her family, while serving on the Sunday School Board, Naomi Willing Workers, and engaging in Bible study. A proud graduate of Reagan High, she was a member of the Red Coats and Glee Club. She married the love of her life, Ernest Richard Wolfer, on March 16, 1948. After their marriage, they raised their family in Houston, where Geraldine was active in the Sinclair Elementary and Hogg Junior High PTAs, while developing her career in the accounting department in the Houston ISD. After her retirement, she dedicated her life to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, while taking pleasure in game shows and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Johnson; and her nephew, Lyle Johnson. She is survived by her son and wife, Dale and Ann Wolfer, of Salem, Va.; son, Dean and wife, Donna Wolfer, of Spring; granddaughter and caretaker, Susan Ellis, husband, Jason, and daughters, Emma and Clara Rust, and Christina Ellis, all of Georgetown; grandson, Kyle Wolfer, of Spring; and granddaughter Sarah Ferguson, husband, Henry, and son, Benjamin, of Roanoke, Va.; and heart-granddaugther, Janneke Higginbotham of Round Rock. She is also survived by niece, Ardis Payne and husband, George, of the Woodlands; and great-nephews, Michael Payne and Jason Payne and wife, Deanna, all of Houston. Her loss will be mourned by a host of extended family, friends, and brothers- and sisters-in-Christ. The family wishes to extend special thanks to those who helped care for Mimmie, including Hospice staff Cheryl Echard, Melanie Francisco and Martha Muniz. The family will receive callers at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd., Houston, Texas 77008, Wednesday, March 4, 2015, from 5p.m. – 8p.m.. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, on Thursday at 10a.m., with burial following to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
