OBITUARY
German Vera Landingin
November 21, 1946 – January 5, 2021
German Vera Landingin, 74, passed away on January 5, 2021 in Houston, Texas after a prolonged illness. German was born on November 21, 1946 in Bonuan Blue Beach, Dagupan City to Francisco and Petronila Landingin. He was known to many as “Gerry” and was the youngest of his seven siblings. In 1969, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Drafting at the University of Pangasinan. In 1989, he expanded his education in Business and Technology at the University of Houston and thus began his career with Shell Oil Company. Gerry married his “one and only” Venus Farin Landingin on May 18, 1977. They raised and nurtured two genuine children, Samantha and Apollo Neil. Gerry was actively involved in the Pangasinan Women’s Club of Texas, Ilocano Club of Metro Houston, and was part of the Houston Northwest Filipino community. He took any opportunity to be the center of attention, make you laugh, sing karaoke, capture moments through photos and video, try his luck at the casino, tend to his garden, showcase his art skills, but most of all, spend quality time with family and friends. Gerry also secretly dreamed to be a true cowboy, and he did own all the gear but never a horse. His family pays this tribute to him, ‘Papa was one of the sweetest and caring people you could ever meet. After a warm welcome, he would genuinely open his heart every time anyone would visit at home. He will be deeply missed.’ German Landingin is survived by his wife Venus, daughter Samantha & her husband Gustavo, son Apollo Neil, granddaughter Liliana, sister Elsa Ramos, and brother Francisco Landingin Jr. Preceded in death by his parents, Artemio Landingin, Bromeo Landingin, Cleofe Landingin, and Doris Landingin.

I met Gerry in his first few months in Houston from the PI during Venus baby shower for Samantha. Fortunately they became our neighbors in Briarcreek for about 8 years. And even though we moved to Sugar Land, we still visited each other quite often. Our families have been best friends and like one family for three generations - us, our kids, and our grandchildren! I have unforgettable memories of him like karaoke singing, traveling on vacations together, driving to the casino, spending all our holidays and birthdays and anniversaries together. He was one of if not the best friend I ever had and he is my kumpadre too. I loved his humor - he was always making everybody laugh. I loved his cooking too! He would always extend his help to anyone who needed it. We have been like brothers since we met. I will miss you forever, til we see each other in the next life.

Uncle, we want to thank you for your love even though you’re miles away from us. You’ve always expressed how good of a brother our father was and although we’re grieving for your loss, we are happy to know that you’re now with your brother in heaven. Please send him our love. Tito's voice filled a room - whether he was singing karaoke or laughing at his own jokes! I feel grateful to have grown up with a team of dads to raise me, including Tito who was so important to our childhood that he was only known as Tito! Not Tito Gerry. Just Tito. The one and only Tito. I will always remember him singing, dancing, falling asleep on the couch after eating too much on thanksgiving or christmas, making award-winning art (Sam!), perfectly cutting Tita's bibingka, and just being a constant presence in my life. We miss him so much already. Our family get-togethers will never be the same but we have enough memories to last a lifetime. Thank you for everything, Tito. We love you.

2010 November - One of the best memories I ever shared with you, Uncle.
Though you were the youngest among your 7-sibling family, you were like a big brother to everyone. And to some of us, even me, you were like a father.
Your memories will always remain in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Thank you for everything. I will forever miss you, Uncle Gerry!

Tito Gerry, I will never forget how you always welcomed us in your home to sit, eat, talk and joke around but mostly always for your sweet and unforgettable words about Lili and I. Sending our heartfelt condolences to Tita Venus, Sam, Lili and Neil. You're in our thoughts and prayers and rest easy knowing that Steve and I too, will always be here for your family.

Tito, as I grew up calling him, was always one of our fun uncles. I have so many fond memories of family trips around the country/world, birthday parties and restaurant outings to name a few. Tito was always the one to strike up conversation with the waiter and swore he knew whatever language they spoke fluently. Tito "spoke" Spanish, Japanese, Chinese & Vietnamese! Haha!
Tito was always one of my father figures. He was at every single life event, big or small. He was there for all my school graduations - my elementary school , high school and college. He was there when I got married and was one of our Godfathers. He was there when I had my 1st child. He was also there when I was stuck in the hospital after the traumatic birth of my 2nd child. He was there for both my babies' 1st birthdays. He was there for my parents as my mom battled cancer and to celebrate with us when she beat it! He was there for my dad's retirement celebration. He was there when we celebrated my mom's 70th birthday last year. He was there for EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAY. He has been a HUGE part of my life and the life of my family. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
Tito, thank you for loving my parents. Thank you for loving Kim.
For loving me and Jae, Leighton and Micah. Thank you for all you have done for us. We will miss you so much.
We will do our best to help care for Tita, Sam, Neil, and Lili.
Tita, Sam, Neil & Lili, we are here for all of you. ANYTHING you need, you let us know. We will get through this as a family, together. Just as we have in the past. Life will definitely look different going forward but we will continue to honor Tito by continuing to share our memories of him. We love you more than you know.
REST IN PEACE, PAPA GERRY!
