Gloria Marina Alegria

Gloria Marina Alegria, 75, of Houston, Texas, entered into the presence of the Lord on July 4, 2026, surrounded by her children, family, and the friends who, over the years, became part of her family. Born on June 14, 1951, in San Miguel, El Salvador, Gloria Marina carried with her a deep love for home and family that remained steady throughout her life.

In 1980, Gloria Marina immigrated to the United States with the hope of providing a better future for her three children. Through strength, sacrifice, and determination, she built a new life and raised her children as a single mother, instilling in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and strong moral principles. Along the way, she cultivated lifelong friendships with neighbors and friends who remained faithfully by her side until her final days.

Gloria Marina had an extraordinary love for Christmas, beginning her decorating months in advance so that her children and grandchildren could enjoy the lights starting on Thanksgiving night. She also found daily joy in plants and flowers, and those who visited often knew they might find her in her beautiful garden, accompanied by her faithful dogs and beloved chickens.

The greatest treasure of Gloria Marina’s life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They filled her heart with joy, and her brightest smile always appeared whenever one of them was nearby. In every embrace, she made them feel the immeasurable love she carried in her heart.

Gloria Marina is survived by her children, Nelson Alegria, Antonia Alegria, and Nora Fuentes and her husband, Jose Fuentes; her beloved grandchildren, Joseph Fuentes and his wife, Andrea Resendez, Edwin Alvarado, Daniela Alegria, and Andrew Alegria; her cherished great-grandchildren, Mason Fuentes, Clementine Esquivel, Angel Alvarado, and Baby Fuentes, affectionately known as “Gumball,” who is expected to arrive soon. She is also survived by her beloved companion of many years, Eustorgio Nuñes; her brothers, Cesar V. Alegria and his wife, Ana Alegria, Rene Alegria, and Fredman Ayala; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved as if they were her own children.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A Vigil Service will be held the same evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A Committal Service will follow on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.

She will be deeply missed. May God receive her into His heavenly glory and grant her eternal rest. May she rest in peace.
