

In the year of 1943 on August 23rd, a beautiful baby girl was born to Joseph C. Blount Sr. and Mildred Blount and they named her Gloria Jean Blount. She attended Booker T. Washington High School and pursued a career as an Operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She went from Operator to Network Supervisor. Gloria labored with Southwestern Bell until her retirement. Gloria joined church at an early age and was baptized in the river for membership at Bella Vista Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend G.H. Nickerson. Over the years Gloria joined and worked as a Sunday and Vacation Bible School Teacher, Greeter and an Usher in various churches. She was a member of Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her brother Bishop Lester Earl Blount Sr. until 2013 when she moved away. Her last active membership was at The Luke Church under the leadership of Pastor Timothy Sloan. She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph C. Blount Sr. and Mildred Blount, son: Kenneth Ray Flowers Sr., granddaughter: Kenna Flowers, great grandson: Desmond Flowers, three brothers: Ronald Henry Sr., Larry Blount, Joseph C. Blount Jr., sister: Joan C. Blount-Lewis. She leaves to cherish her memories two loving sons: Lorenzo Gene Flowers, Joseph Dewayne Flowers and grandchildren: Kenny Ray Walker, Noel Flowers-Collier, Felicia Flowers, Kenneth R. Flowers Jr., Katera Barnes and Autumn R. Flowers. Her siblings: Bishop Lester Blount Sr. (Kay), Linda Taylor, Delbert Blount, Rosalind Raikes (Preston), Yvonne Miles (James), Douglas Blount (LaKeitha), Alvin Glenn and Darryl Glenn. A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Our God of Peace, the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ called Gloria to rest on September 14, 2014.
