Gloria “Meme” Coulter, 85, passed away on June 24, 2018. Loyal and stubborn, Gloria spent her life fighting for, and with, her family. A woman of few words, she showed her love through cooking, and you’d be most likely to find her in the kitchen, whipping up a batch of biscuits and cornbread on a daily basis.
When she wasn’t cooking, she was shopping for anything and everything. Her love of beautiful things and a good sale led to a lifelong obsession of securing all the purses and shoes she could fit in her closets, under her bed or anywhere she could find free space. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, romance novels and slot machines, and couldn’t get enough of the big hugs from her many great grandchildren.
Gloria has finally joined the love of her life, Jim, and leaves behind her children, Gloria McIlvain & husband Jerry, James (Bubba) Coulter, Jr. & wife Karen, Sharon Neal & husband Tommy, Espie Coulter & wife Mary; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and her brother Gerald “Blackie” Grayson, who will spend the rest of their lives trying to recreate her famous chicken and dumplings recipe.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home with a Graveside service at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018 at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
