Gloria Suarez Garcia, 87, passed away on February 19, 2013 in Houston, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 11, 1925 to Candelario G. Suarez and Delphine G. Suarez in Houston, Texas. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rufus O. Garcia, daughter, Delphine Maroulis and siblings. She is survived by her two children Rufus Garcia Jr. and wife, Patricia and Mary Louise Rodriguez and husband, Benjamin; 9 Grandchildren, 19 Great -Grandchildren and 1 Great Great- Grandchild. Gloria was politically active and a firm believer in education, especially in the Hispanic community. She was involved in the PTA and HISD programs supporting education and improving the educational system for those children in the community.
A visitation and a rosary was held on February 21, 2013 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7250 Harrisburg Blvd. Houston, Texas 77011. Interment will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
