Gloria A. Redden, beloved matriarch of our family, passed away on November 27, 2012 at the age of 86. She lived in Houston, Texas all of her life where she was a beloved wife, mother, daughter and grandmother who placed her family first in everything she did. The foundations of her existence were compassion and kindness, which she taught her children to exemplify in their lives. She never met a stranger and people knew her as a warm and upbeat person who was friendly and generous. Her passions were many, but one of her favorite pastimes was dancing with her husband. Our mother also was a big believer in the importance of hard work. Those who knew her and worked with her admired her energy and drive. She was an entrepreneur for 30 years and owned three successful businesses. The measure of a woman is how the people who know her best feel about her, and in that respect, Gloria Redden was flawless. She had the love, respect and admiration of her husband, her children, family and friends. Forever, she will be missed and remembered. Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Wayne Redden, her mother, Sarah Rojas, her father, Gilbert Avila, her brother, Oscar Ortiz and her step-son Donald Redden.
She is survived by her children, Rosalinda Lopez, Robert A. Cortez, Renee Somoza and Gloria Martinez. Her step-children, Johnny Redden and Linda Pohl. And their spouses, Linda Cortez, Fernando Somoza, Mark Martinez and Jan Redden. Her grandchildren, Richard Llamas Jr., Bryan Lee Lopez, Candace Grayson, Sarah Cortez, Sebastian Somoza, Monica Bradbery, Danielle Bradbery, Drake Martinez, Drew Martinez and Brent Redden.
