Gloria N. Wolf

Gloria Novelle Wolf, 96, went to be with her Lord on February 2, 2020 at her home in Alvin, Texas. Born in Dawson County near Lamesa, Texas, she is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Myrta Amonett Welch, her beloved husband of 55 years Carl Lee Wolf; son-in-law Kerry Baker, daughter-in-law Janet Wolf, great grandchild Addison Wolf, sisters Frankie Bullman and Ladelle Opitz, brothers Gerald and Buford Welch.

Gloria will be remembered lovingly by her family members and friends as a devout Christian whose life centered around her faith and family. After moving to Houston, she was introduced to the love of her life, Carl, by a University of Houston professor and his wife. Their first date was spent in Galveston swimming and picnicking and they married in 1945.

Gloria completed floristry school in Houston and was a talented businesswoman. She owned and operated a successful florist in Meyerland for 20 years. She was an active member of her church until her later years when her health no longer allowed it. She continued to devote many hours to her Bible studies at home. After her retirement, she immersed herself in family history and genealogy and published genealogies for the Wolf, Welch and Amonett families. Gloria was a gracious hostess to all who visited her home. She loved to entertain and made holidays and special occasions memorable for family and friends. Her hobbies were gardening, decorating, sewing and cooking for family and friends.

Gloria is survived by her loving children, Allen Wolf (Linda), Dwight Wolf (Julia) and Elaine Baker; grandchildren Larry Wolf, Michael Wolf, Jenna Harbal, Joel Wolf, Rebekah Wolf and Ryan Baker; great grandchildren Robert Wolf, Hannah Wolf, Logan Wolf, Harrison Wolf, Harper Wolf-Grant, Jonathan Davis, Tristan Baker, Michaela Baker and Rylan Baker. She is also survived by sisters Charlotte Wilson and Linda Thomas. In Gloria’s words “I always count the ones as my grandchildren that marry into the family because they are mine and call me Grandma.” These include Dana Long, Susan Arnold, Danny Coker, and Allison Coker Marshall; great grandchildren Joshua Wilson, Ashley Drey, Blake, Kayla and Jack Gebauer, Ryan Pennington, Kinley Marshall and Blakely Coker.

Gloria will be dearly missed and remembered by her family and friends.
