

Gonzalo Montemayor, age 77, of Houston, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Gonzalo was born in Weslaco, Texas on May 25, 1938. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Anthony, parents, Juan and Fidela Montemayor, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Gonzalo is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alicia Montemayor; son, Michael Montemayor and wife Jana; daughters, Melissa Seberger and husband Dennis, Melinda McGee and husband Johnny, Mandy Bagnato and husband Chuck, Michelle Martinez and husband Ruben; and his 12 grandchildren.
Gonzalo and Alicia moved from South Texas to Houston in 1961. He was an entrepreneur from an early age and started several businesses throughout his career. Eventually he established his primary construction company where he continued to work for the next forty years. He was a successful business owner and continued to work until his final days. Gonzalo held many passions. He was an avid player of the accordion and loved music, sports, his family and especially being with his grandchildren. He enjoyed going back to his roots and would frequent his hometown in South Texas.
He was a very loving and devoted father and grandfather and always supported his family throughout his life. He taught the family love and the importance of hard work, dedication and loyalty.
Gonzalo fought a long battle with cancer and never gave up hope. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, all his family and friends.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2016 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
