Mrs. Gracie (Adams) Sloan

Preceded in death by her mother, father, sister, Dorothy Adams, step-brother, Robert Hill, husband, John M. Sloan, Sr, daughter, Sandra Gordon, son, Lee Sloan, and son-in-law Leonard Sutton.

She was married to John Sr. on May 28, 1946, and this union produced 6 wonderful children.

She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was baptized in the faith. She participated and served at New Mount Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years and enjoyed speaking about the Lord to many. When coming to her home, she always had a meal to share especially around any holiday. She enjoyed making large eventful meals for her family to commune around the table; this was such an act of love.

Gracie departed this life on Friday, August 2, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones.

She leaves behind a beautiful family and we will do “her roll call” and if you don’t get the shout-out, you know who she’s talking about! For the last sweet time- as she points her finger at you: two sons: John M, Sloan, Jr, Paul D Sloan; two daughters, Patricia A. Murphy, and Sylvia A. Sutton; her daughters-in-law,

DeAnna Sloan, Gloria Sloan, and Debra Blacklock-Sloan; and sons-in-law, Max E. Murphy and John Gordon and 4 generations of grandchildren and many cousins.

You certainly have been a wonderful matriarch of the family and will be missed.
