Gurthie departed this life on Thursday, July 28, 2022 in Ruston Louisiana.
Junior Moore as family and friends knew him grew up in the Fellowship Community of Simsboro, Louisiana and attended Grambling High School.
Shortly after attending his first semester at Grambling State University, Junior was drafted and served in the United States Army obtaining the rank of specialist four during the Vietnam War where he worked as a wireman aiding in establishing telecommunication services throughout Vietnam. While serving his country, Junior was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marksmanship Badge Rifle, and the National Defense Service Award.
On May 17, 1968 while at home on leave, Junior proposed and married Margorie Williams and to their union two children were born Donovan B Moore of Tomball, Texas and Tonika L. Jones (Andre) of Katy, Texas.
Junior was honorably discharged on January 01, 1974 and eventually settled in Houston Texas and began his career with Texaco USA where he would later retire. During his retirement Junior enjoyed spending time with his family and most importantly his grandchildren. You could always find him at their events or in the stands cheering them on.
Junior was a long time member of Fellowship Baptist Church and later joined The Church at Bethel’s Family in Houston, Texas where served as a door keeper.
He was preceded in death by his mother Angie, father Gurthie, Sr., sister Gussie Mae Simpson, brothers George Lee, James Earl, Pearl Lou, Elaine, and grandson Andre Ignace Jones Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife Margie of 54 years two children three grandchildren Devan Jenae Moore, Trenton De’Vaughn Moore, and Je’Von Glenn Jones his father in law Clyde Williams three sister in laws Alverne Moore, Ethel Moore and Annie Marie Crawford two brother in laws Charles Williams and Johnny Ray Crawford and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
