Gus was many things to many people. He was a husband, a father, a brother, a friend and a fellow model railroader. You could often find him either sitting on his stool at G&G Model Shop in Rice Village talking to his customers or up in his HO scale model railroad layout working on scenery, switches, making buildings or out in his yard every Wednesday where he loved to work.
Gus attended St. Thomas High School where he graduated early to join the Navy in 1944. He was assigned to the USS Alabama and served for the next two years. Up until two years ago, he made yearly pilgrimages to this ship to remember and celebrate the victories of WWII with his fellow crewmates.
The Freitag family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Legacy at Town Creek for their kindness, friendship and expert care for Gus and especially to his caregiver, Judy Yocham who watched over him daily.
The Family will be receiving guests from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm followed by the Rosary at 1:30 pm and then the Funeral Mass which will begin at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 28th at Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023.
