Harold Garland Adams, 93, of Baytown was born January 9, 1919 in Sulphur Springs, TX and passed peacefully Monday, September 10, 2012 with his loving daughter at his side.
Garland faithfully serviced his country during WW II in the United States Air Force from 1942 until 1949. He retired from Humble Oil and Refining, where he was a welder and later owned and operated Adams Hardware Store and Adams Tractor Service. He was a member of the San Jac Wheelers Travel Club where he served as chaplain. He was also a member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192 and was a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ. Garland enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively around the U. S. and Canada and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a devout Christian who loved nothing more than attending church and church functions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Guy and Esther Gray Adams; first wife, Sibyl Traverso Adams; and brother, Marland Gaston Adams. He is survived by his wife, Anita Adams of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and John Krasnick of Seabrook; stepdaughter and husband, Judy and Ray Hanks of Kansas City, MO; sister, Bobbi Cole of Alvin; grandchildren, Thomas Adam Paden and wife, Rachel, Justin Phillip Hamilton, and Travis Austin Pyle; great grandchildren, Kathryn and Grant Paden; step grandchildren, Ashley May and husband, Jared, Angela Krasnick, Anthony Krasnick, Deidre Johnson, Stacy Neely, and Kevin Hanks; and step great grandchildren, Madlyn and Kyleigh Alonso and Grace and Bryce May.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Brad Benoit officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and Brent, Brian, and Brandon Benoit.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial contributions may be made in Garland’s name to the Seventh Street Church of Christ, 410 Oakhaven, Baytown, TX 77520.
