I remember Uncle Buddy as a very " jolly" man.  I loved his laugh.  I know he will be missed by his family.  Becky Fowler Shults

My life is so much more blessed because of my Uncle Buddy and Aunt Arnice.  My dad, Leon Fowler and Aunt Arnice were brother and sister and we loved to hear their stories!  My name is Rhonda and I am the oldest of my dad's three girls. We live in the small town of Colmesneil and when we knew Uncle Buddy and Aunt Arnice were coming to see us, we all would gather at my dad's and tell stories, play dominoes and laugh until way in the wee hours of the morning.  If you walked into a room and heard Uncle Buddy laughing, you'd just start laughing too even though you didn't even have a clue what was funny just because he had that hearty, deep belly laugh. Daddy and Uncle Buddy loved to fish together.  They would catch a bunch of catfish on a trotline and we would have a fishfry that was delicious!  Hushpuppies....french fries....and good ol' catfish!   We loved to fry fish when they came up and sometimes, Aunt Arnice would sing for us.  She could play the guitar, too!  They were just happy and being around them made us feel their love and happiness too.  We would pop firecrackers at Christmas and once Uncle Buddy showed us how to pop a whole thing of blackcats at once!  We laughed and jumped and had so much fun.  Playing dominoes with Aunt Arnice and Uncle Buddy was really fun.  One night, we were playing 84 and Aunt Arnice kept leaning back in her chair and actually making it balance!  Uncle Buddy told her to be careful or she was going to tip over,  She just laughed at him and raised her cigarette in the air....this went on for a few hands and then all at once, we were all watching her and she had balanced again, but this time...she wasn't coming back down...she was heading backwards and it seemed like an eternity...but she flipped over and it made her madder than a wet hen!  After we knew she was ok, we lost it and started laughing and even though she knew it was funny too....she still gave us a hard time.  Uncle Buddy was just in shock...he didn't know what to do!!!  
But some of our best memories, were just sitting out on the porch talking about Aunt Sis stories and the flies!  That's all I can say about that one.
And another one with a sheet on the wall...that's all I  can say again.
It was just great to hear the stories and when you heard them talking about riding an old mule or milking a cow or making sausage...the stories were all great....everything was good and life was fun.  Uncle Buddy always made me feel like I was special.  I loved him and he loved me.  His big ol heart was as big as his laugh and I will cherish all the memories we've made through the years.  He made my life happier.  When my family is together now, some of the nieces always ask me to tell Uncle Buddy and Aunt Arnice stories.  They laugh and think of them as probably fictional characters.  But I know the truth...they were very real,,,,very giving and very loving.  Their stories will forever live on ....sometimes being shared with a family member, but forever in my heart.

Buddy Spence was my cousin and I remember
he babysat me and my brother and sister when
I was 5 or 6 in about 1942 and was so much fun.
We remember his laugh because he laughed all
over.  Miss you Buddy!

Buddy Spence.....always remember him with his pleasant sweet smile and the larger than life laugh.  I remember one time we all went to see a movie which for the life of me I cannot remember which one it was but it was a comedy. And Buddy started laughing and the whole theatre was laughing at him because he was laughing so loud. Where ever Buddy was...Arnice was right beside him.  

Thankfully they are together again.
