Born on January 4, 1933 in San Antonio, TX to Kurt and Esther Berkes, Helen spent most of her life in Houston, TX, where she worked as an educator for more than three decades within the Houston Independent School District.
Helen loved animals, and her family and friends describe her as independent, loving, caring, determined, supportive, fierce, kind, and compassionate. Later in life, Helen loved spending time with her grandchildren and doting on her four great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by Larry Miller, son-in-law; David Miller, grandson, wife Rachel Miller, and great-granddaughters Annabelle and Ellie; Brian Miller, grandson, wife Shawnna Miller, and great-granddaughter Aubree; Keith Miller, grandson, wife Jessica Miller and great-granddaughter Kaydence; Carol Berkes, sister-n-law, Laura, niece, and Jimmy Kleypas, Lisa, niece, and Randy Reeves, and Kurt, nephew, and Krista Berkes.
Helen is preceded by her parents Kurt and Esther Berkes, brothers AJ Berkes and Leslie Berkes, and daughter Barbara Miller.
