Hilda "Jo" Eddy, 89, went to be with her Lord on Dec. 19, 2015. She was a devoted wife of Charles "Chuck" Eddy, and dear mother to Sharon Eddy Greenlee. Jo was a kind and gentle person who was loved by all her relatives, friends, and fellow Christians.
She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Chester and Arlue Graham on Feb. 11, 1926 the last of six children. She graduated as valedictorian from Damon, Tx. High School. She worked at Ellington Field and San Antonio and joining the war effort, she sailed to Hawaii soon after Pearl Harbor. There she met "Chuck" Eddy of Dayton, Ohio while calibrating B-29 bomb sights in Honolulu. Chuck and Jo married in Houston, Tx. on March 4, 1948. They spent 62 happy years of marriage, living in Dayton, Ohio, where she worked for years as a telephone operator. After retirement they moved to The Woodlands, Tx.,and later lived in the Clear Lake Bay Area.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and taught Sunday School to many kindergarteners. She loved to sing, was a good cook, and was a hospitable, congenial Christian whose memory is cherished by many.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Greenlee and husband Jim; by her granddaughter Lisa Rietvelt and husband Marc; by her granddaughter Jeanette Tackett and husband Mike. Others of her beloved survivors are her great grandchildren Michelle and Emily Tackett, Paige and Ryan Rietvelt, and two cousins Claudine Foster and Dorothy Weems.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Dec.22, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral home and the Funeral Service will be Wednesday Dec. 23, 2015 at the Chapel of Angels, at the same location at 10:30 am with the burial at 12:00 pm.
