They say that laughter is the best medicine, and Homer Kenneth Bearden lived by those words. Known to most as "Ken or Pawpaw," and affectionately called "Homie" by those who knew him well. Pawpaw passed away at the age of 84 on August 16, 2026, in Spring, Texas and leaves behind a legacy of smiles, love, and a few wonderfully mispronounced words.
Ken was a bright light in the lives of his family. He had a special talent for interjecting humor into difficult moments, teaching his loved ones to face life's challenges with a smile. Like when he told his grandkids that he lost his eye to a pirate or to a book falling off the shelf after he lost his eye to cancer. When he wasn't making people laugh, Homie could almost always be found at a ballfield. His true passion was watching his grandchildren play sports, and he spent countless happy hours cheering them on at baseball and softball games.
His proudest achievement was his family. Ken is survived by his sister, ex-wife, 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. His family continues to grow, with another great-grandchild due to arrive in October, who will surely grow up hearing stories about their wonderful great-grandfather.
Near the end, with his family gathered around him, Ken left one last comedic memory when he finished off a brief conversation with, “Adios Amigos, I always wanted to say that.”
Adios Pawpaw, from the family that laughed deeply with you and loved you greatly. Rest peacefully and welcome home.
