Hope Marie Lewis was born on October 14, 1964, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to the late Irma J. Lewis and Morris Lewis. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at 10 years old by the late Pastor Aaron Marks.
Hope graduated from Franklin Senior High School in 1982. She later attended Young Memorial Vocational-Technical School, where she completed training as an Information Processing Operator. In the early 1990s, Hope relocated to Houston, TX, where she earned an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Funeral Service. She continued her education and later received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling.
Two years ago, Hope returned to Jeanerette, LA, where she became a member of 4-C’s Ministry. Earlier this year, she relocated once more—this time to Pearland, TX.
Hope was the embodiment of love, strength, and generosity. She was a devoted mother, a cherished friend, and a proud “Nana” to her beloved grandchildren. Her faith in God was unwavering, and she shared His love whenever she had the opportunity. Adventurous by nature, Hope had a deep passion for travel and often embarked on spontaneous solo trips around the world. Though she enjoyed watching cooking shows, she jokingly remained a “beginner” in the kitchen—an endearing quality her loved ones will always remember.
Her bond with her grandchildren was incredibly special. No matter the distance, she remained present in their lives and nurtured meaningful connections with each one.
Hope answered her final call from the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:33 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Irma J. Lewis; her brothers, Kenneth R. Lewis and Ronald Lewis; her maternal grandmother, Elzina Matthews; and her paternal grandparents, Romania and Leroy Lewis, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved son, Terrance La’Roy Givens-Lewis of Sioux City, IA; her treasured daughter, Ki’Ara D. Lewis of Pearland, TX; three brothers, Nathan and Michael Lewis of Four Corners, LA, and Irvin Gage of New Iberia, LA; two sisters, Deliska Tillman of Denham Springs, LA, and DeToi Tillman of Jeanerette, LA; her “second mom,” Bettye Tillman; and a very special woman who loved her as her own, affectionately known as “Mama Vic.”
Hope also leaves behind 14 adored grandchildren: Aniyah and Kylon Lewis of New Iberia, LA; Kai Lewis of Chicago, IL; Terrance La’Roy, Amina, Oaklynn Finn, Remi La’Roy, Alijah, and Alan—all of Sioux City, IA; Kross Lewis of Houston, TX; Bryan, Braelyn, Bailee, and Brycen Holloway of Houston, TX; and Jay of Pearland, TX.
Hope’s light, love, and legacy will live on in all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Hope Marie Lewis will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. John Baptist Church, located at 1244 Big Four Corners Road, Jeanerette, LA 70544.
A funeral service will follow from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the same church.
