The last of the three Mims Brothers has gone to be with the Lord. Howard Acie Mims, Sr. was born 12/10/1926 to Ruby Knox Mims and Garland Earhart “Bud” Mims in Pearson's Chapel, TX and died on 1/15/2014 in Houston, TX. He spent his working years standing at the end of the line greeting customers at The Dinner Bell Cafeteria and providing meat processing at Mims Meat Company. He served proudly in the United States Army as part of the Greatest Generation. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Mae Mims; three children, Howard Acie Mims, Jr, Suzanne Mims Ivey and husband Mark, and Beverly Mims; 3 grandchildren, Leah Ivey Thompson and husband Austen, Elizabeth Ivey Ingrao and husband Nick, and Zachary Ivey and wife Kristina; five great grandchildren, Clara Ingrao, Connor Ingrao, Caden Thompson, Cole Thompson, and Case Thompson. He was a wonderful husband, father, Papaw, and great Papaw. His passion was golfing and when he could no longer play a full 18 holes, he would wager on the putting green at Jersey Meadows Golf Course. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all.
