

Hugh Donald McCain passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on January 4, 2024, in Houston, Texas. He was born on November 10, 1936 in Belize City, Belize. Hugh was a man of many admirable qualities, known for his charisma, friendliness, and outgoing nature. He had a knack for making everyone around him feel welcomed and cherished.
A Bright Student, Hugh graduated from Wesley College and was granted a government scholarship to attend the university of the West Indies (UWI) in Jamaica, where he earned a Bachelor's of Science
degree in Economics. Upon graduation, Hugh moved back to Belize to dedicate many years of his life to serving in various positions within the Belize Government Civil Services. During his service he received yet another government scholarship to attend Carleton university in Ottawa, Canada where he earned a Masters of Science degree in Economics. His commitment and dedication were commendable, and he also served as a District Commissioner of the Orange walk District of Belize. Later in life, hugh embarked on anew journey with the DHL delivery service company in houston, TX, where he worked as an officer until his well deserved retirement. During this latter period he also served as General Counsel for the Government of Belize in Houston and was a founding member of the Belize Association of Houston - Exemplifying his unwavering loyalty and passion for his country of birth
Beyond his professional accomplishments, hugh had a deep love for music, particularly calypso and soca. His vibrant spirit was reflected in his enjoyment of these genres, and he would often find joy in sharing his favorite tunes with those around him. Hugh also has a talent for cooking and took great pleasure in preparing delicious meals. His culinary skills were renowned, and his dishes brought people together, creating lasting memories .
Hugh is survived by his wife, Silvia, sons, Donald Andrew, Sean Matthew, and Vivian. Siblings: Marilyn Vernon, Jennifer Bruce, Pamela Termize and Glenn McCain in addition to eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Theophilius and Violet McCain, as well as his dear sisters, Sandra violet and Emily yvonne and brother, Paul Duncan.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to all those whop have offered their condolences and support during this difficult time. Your kind words and gestures have provided solace and comfort to them.
