Humberto was born on December 7, 1935, in Beaumont, Texas to Irene Duron and Hipolito Gutierrez. He was a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas, where he built his life, raised his family, and created a home that was filled with love, family and memories.
He married Soledad “Chole” Ortiz-Cervantes. Together, they shared a life filled with family, hard work, love, and memories. As a member of Immaculate Conception Church for many years, he attended mass every Sunday, giving marriage preparation classes and baptismal classes alongside his wife.
After several years working in valve repair, Humberto built a successful business of his own, Texas Valve Repair, of which he was deeply proud. It allowed him to provide for his family and create a life he could be proud of.
Humberto was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a deeply giving man who never hesitated to help family, friends, or anyone who was in need. His home was always open to those who needed a place to stay, a helping hand, or simply someone who cared. He gave what he could and loved in the way he knew best.
In his later years, he loved to sit by the window and listen to mariachi music with the company of his wife nearby.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Soledad “Chole” Gutierrez; his son, Jose Chavarria (late wife Lisa), and grandchildren Meghan, Christian, and Cameron; his daughter, Teresa Ybarra, and grandchildren Rocco and Ava; and his daughter, Patricia Acevedo (Cesar), and grandchildren CJ, and Bella, He also leaves behind his grandson Isaac and countless family members and friends whose lives were touched by his presence.
