Born in Surbiton, England, to Anthony "Tony" George and Diana George, Ian spent his formative years in Surrey, England before embarking on a lifelong journey that would take him around the world. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics from City University, London, followed by a Master of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London.
Ian built a distinguished career spanning nearly 40 years in the oil and gas exploration industry, a profession that enriched his life with meaningful connections, diverse experiences, and friendships across the globe.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, he found joy in the simple pleasures: a round of golf, one of his favorite British television series, studying and discussing a passage of Scripture, but his greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved most.
Ian was preceded in death by both of his parents, Anthony “Tony” George and Diana George.
A devoted husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather, Ian treasured the bonds of family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca George; his sons, Tristan George and Hayden George (wife, Amanda); and his stepdaughter, Natalie Thayer. He was a proud grandfather to Riley, age three, and Owen, age one, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of his granddaughter, Evelyn.
Ian lived his life in a manner that honored the Lord, going out of his way to help those less fortunate and serve like Jesus. Ian attended church regularly with many people considering him one of the family…the family of God. His faith was a source of strength, comfort, and guidance in his life. It brings such peace to know that Ian is now at rest in God’s loving care.
All who knew Ian were enriched by his presence. He was known for his peaceful nature, gentle demeanor, and fascinating conversation. The world needs more people like Ian, living life in that calm, gentle way. He treasured each moment and loved watching his family grow. His memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. Ian will be deeply missed and forever cherished
