

Imogene Wright Hunt was born July 13, 1923 in Bailey, Mississippi, the daughter of Annie Elizabeth and Irvin Wright. Her mother passed away when she was seven years old and her father when she was twelve. She had six brothers and a sister of which the older ones raised her. She began working at the airplane factory during World War II at a young age. During that time, she met her husband, Jack Hunt. They were married on January 1, 1944 in Mississippi at the Key Field Chapel. To this union, four children were born. She lived in Houston, Texas and raised her four children. She additionally shared her Christian values with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jack died in 1995. Together they shared 51 years of marriage.
Gene was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was an active member and taught Sunday school. She was an accomplished artist and a member of Pasadena Art Society. Gene spent her life dedicated to her family. She died on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the age of 87.
She is survived by her children, Donna and husband Rudy Drabek; Karen and husband Bill Menges; Jack and wife Nancy Hunt; Ross and wife Karen Hunt; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Hunt and her seven siblings.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 14, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011at 10:30 A.M. in the Chapel of Angels of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
