Irene Theresa Bolduc departed this world quietly at 4:30 pm, Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Landing at Watercrest Shadow Creek Ranch. She leaves behind her loving husband of 75 years, Albert, 8 children, 19 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Irene was born on October 17, 1928, in Ludlow, Massachusetts, to William Miner and Blanche Fleury Miner. She was the youngest of three children and always aspired to have a large family. She was a post WWII bride who married her high school sweetheart, a friend of her brother, on August 26, 1946. Their first two children were born in Massachusetts and Delaware. The other six children were born in Texas.
A woman of small stature, but with a big personality and a tireless drive who inspired loving admiration, she reared eight independent children. She taught her six daughters to be strong women like herself and her sons to be dependable loving husbands and good providers like their father. She stayed close to all of her children and enjoyed their company and friendship until her last day.
Irene was dependable, dynamic and energetic. She had a strong faith and prayed the rosary often. She could always be counted on to perform in any type of volunteer capacity for the church in her youth and her older years. She made life-long friends through volunteer and social activities at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she and her husband have worshipped since it was established in 1956. Diagnosed with diabetes in her fifties she met it as a challenge and walked up to 6 miles a day (often to and from church for daily mass) well into her seventies. She had a loving heart and befriended those both old and young.
Irene enjoyed bridge and card games her whole life and routinely hosted card games with lifelong friends well into her eighties. She loved to play competitive games, always played to win and was gracious in the winning and losing. She taught her children to do the same. She discovered dice in her seventies and for the last five years of her life she played Farkel weekly with several of her daughters. She looked forward to these games, not only for the competition but for the visits.
She was creative and part of a quilting group who met weekly for over twenty years. She was a seamstress who made clothes for her children well into the older children’s college years. She was a phenomenal baker who passed her love of baking on to her daughters and granddaughters.
Irene was a matriarch – a loving mother and grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. She will always live in the hearts of her family and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, William Miner and Blanche Fleury Miner, her sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Walter Burek, her brother, Gerald Miner, her first born, Christopher Bolduc, and her sons-in-law, Tim Twardowski and Jim Cuskey.
