She is survived by her husband, WC Duncan of Livingston, TX.; daughter, Lisa Johnson and her husband Sam; granddaughters, Brittany Quin and Kyndall Johnson, all of The Woodlands, TX; her honorary daughter, Cindy Davenport of McKinney, TX; sister, Marilyn Treybig and her husband Daniel of Houston, TX; brother Bobby Pavlik and his wife Pat of Schulenburg, TX; brother-in-law, Doug Duncan of Waller, TX; sister-in-law, Iris Sumners and her husband Jerry of Oalthe, KS. Irene is preceded in death by her grandson, Kolin Quin; brothers, Erwin, Bennie and Jimmy Pavlik; her parents, Adolph and Millie Pavlik.
Irene was born April 19, 1938 in Weimar, TX, but resided in Schulenburg, TX her entire childhood, graduating from Schulenburg High School. Immediately after graduating high school, she and her lifelong best friend, Earline Strobel, moved to Houston and found employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone. She began as an operator working split shifts, and retired 30 years later as Business Office Manager.
She met WC Duncan in 1959, and they married in June of 1960. Her best friend Earline met and married Tommy Horn, who was WC’s best friend, and the two couples remained close, sharing many vacations together. Irene and WC enjoyed traveling, visiting many beautiful spots in and outside of the U.S. Irene also enjoyed bowling, participating in leagues in both Houston and Livingston. They made their home in Houston until building a retirement home on Lake Livingston and moving there in 2014.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 from 5-8 PM at Heights Funeral Home. Services will he held the following morning at 10 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery.
