

Jack was born to Andrew Jackson Howeth and Donna Rollins Howeth, on October 3, 1952 in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1970 and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Methodist University in 1975 in Electrical Engineering. He married Paula Beth Jeter in 1980, and they lived together in Houston, Texas. Together they raised 3 boys, Justin Patrick, John Wesley and Jason Edward.
In addition to his wife, Paula and sons, he is survived by two sisters, Donna L. Mitchell and Patricia A. Wise. He is also survived by three Daughter-in- Laws, Meghan Howeth, Lyssa Howeth, Emily Howeth, 7 granddaughters, Kyleigh, Elizabeth, Ainsley, Caroline, Catherine, Quinn, Abigail, and 1 grandson, Jackson, along with numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, A.J. Howeth, and mother, Donna R. Howeth.
After graduating from SMU, Jack worked at Southwestern Bell for a few years. After work with SWB, he went into the commercial and residential real estate development business and had a successful 50+ year career in land development, home building and real estate management. He was a member of the National Association of Home Builders acquiring a Graduate Master Builder certificate. He was also a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and served on the Houston Junior Forum’s Advisory Board for three years.
As Mayor of Hunter’s Creek Village from 1995-2000, his expertise in development was of great value to the many reconstruction and improvement projects for the city.
He loved to spend time with his boys on hunting and fishing trips. In addition, he was always providing his family with travel adventures such as ski vacations and other destinations, HLSR activities, Astros outings and other sports experiences. He was an active participant serving as assistant coach to his son‘s baseball and basketball teams through Chapelwood United Methodist Church and the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association. He acquired his private pilot’s license and enjoyed the free spirit of flying for many years. For 30 years, he helped Paula plan and prepare for the annual “Howeth Christmas Party” hosting family, friends and work associates. His most cherished times were when the family would gather at the H5 Ranch for Thanksgiving festivities and when all of the sons and their families could attend Christmas in Houston. Faith and family were his pride and joy.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 29, 2025, 2 p.m. at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay St. Houston, TX 77024. The Reverend Wick Stuckey will conduct the service with a reception to follow. The family requests that any donations be made to the Houston Junior Forum Endowment Fund at www.houstonjuniorforum.org or a charity of your choice.
