James L. (Jim) Daily, Jr, 91 of Houston, Texas passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021 at home. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Ginger, whom he was happily married to for 68 years, daughter Kathy Segner and spouse Ed, Jim Daily III and spouse Fernando and Rick Daily and spouse Cindy. He is survived by his grandchildren Peter Segner, Christian Segner and his spouse Tori, Jake Daily and his spouse Courtney, Sarah Daily, Matthew Daily and his spouse Michele and Deanna Cresap and her spouse Barry. He was preceded in death by his parents James L. (Pappy) Daily Sr and Cordelia Kathryn (Delia) Daily. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren Christopher Daily, Austin Daily, Nathan Cresap and Michael Cresap.
Jim was born on December 2, 1929, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Rice University in 1951 earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and later received a Certified Public Accountant designation.
He applied for and received a direct commission in the U.S Air Force and after completing officer training at a base in Mississippi was sent to military bases in Japan and Korea, ending his military career at Hamilton Air Force Base in San Rafael, CA.
After returning to Houston, he began a 30-year career with Tenneco Inc, retiring in 1985 as Vice President and Controller. During that time, he helped raise three children and enjoyed life, spending lots of time in Galveston. He traveled throughout the U.S., including Alaska, as well as Canada and countries in Europe.
Jim was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Houston Astros. He was a devoted fan of the Astros, win or lose, championship or not. He and Ginger rarely missed watching a game.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family.
Memorial donations may be made to Advent Lutheran Church, 5820 Pinemont Dr, Houston, TX 77092 or your favorite charity. After a private gathering of family at Heights Funeral Home, a graveside service will be held at Washington Cemetery.
