James David Drury passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 77 after a lengthy illness. Born August 11, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee, his family moved to Houston when he was three weeks old. He was preceded in death by his father, Baxter Banks Drury, mother, Ella Drury, brother, Baxter Banks Drury, Jr., sister, Agnes Fletcher, and granddaughter, Shelby Drury.
To all his family and friends, he was known as David. A bit of a curmudgeon, he was also fiercely loyal and made new friends wherever he went. He loved to go out to eat, always ready to meet friends for lunch or to go out for dinner with his wife. He was a devoted Astros fan and supported them even in the down years. He loved gummi bears, oysters on the half shell, Old-fashions, game shows, taking long naps every afternoon, and just sitting in his back "office" for hours visiting with friends.
Always the consummate entrepreneur, he owned several businesses throughout the years including, The Montrose Dealers, Shutter Up, Custom Headsets and Superior Headsets. He was gifted with people and was always inspired by a lively negotiation.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Pamela Drury, his son Jim Drury and wife Bree, his daughter, Dawn Berly and husband Brett, his grandchildren: Ella, Sophie, and Weston Drury, and Zane Berly. He will be greatly missed by his family and all of his many friends.
David's family would like to express their gratitude for the great care and compassion of the many nurses and doctors at both Memorial Hermann Hospital and The Buckingham.
