On October 12, 1949 in Brenham, Texas, a baby boy was born to Albert Parseec and Jessie Gentry. They named him James Roy Gentry. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a devout deacon and drummer at Straightway Tabernacle of Praise of Houston, TX, under the leadership of Chief Apostle Clayton W. Powell.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Most Worshipful Antioch Grand Lodge Masons Chapter- Sons of Thunder. He was employed at Commercial Metal Corporation (CMC) where he later retired. After years of retirement, he rejoined the workforce and worked at Horizon Adult Day Services until he became ill.
James Gentry is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Parseec and Jessie Gentry as well as a son, Carlsual Vonya’ Gentry.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Polly Gentry; his siblings, Sandra Norman, Bobbie Littleton, and Marvin Norman; his children, James Roy Nelson, Anthony Stephen Nelson, Keto Lashun Gentry, Andronicus Parseec Gentry, Nahshon Martin, Latricia Hardy, Demetria Sanford, Nitcher Small and Hammie Small; eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
