

James Hughes Glass, Sr., a phenomenal man who was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. James was born on September 15, 1949 to Vivian Ruth Glass and Julius Glass in Houston, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Nathaniel, Josey Mae, Doliski and Delores Glass. He grew up in Acres Homes in Houston and attended M.C. Williams High School. In school, James was President of his Senior Class, played the Clarinet in the Marching Band, and played as a Forward on his Varsity basketball team. Due to his extroverted fun loving spirit he was voted most Popular Boy. He participated on the track team, was a member of Excelsior Club, served as Student Council and was a Boy Scout.. James was baptized at an early age by Rev. Frank Smith at First Baptist Church. He became a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.J. Foreman where he served as a Deacon. He later moved to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Greeter. James Hughes Glass, Sr. was drafted to the Army on March 22, 1971. He served as a Military Police Dog Handler until he was Honorably Discharged on February 6, 1973. On May 10, 1969, he united in holy matrimony with Theresa Aldridge of Houston, Texas. He is a father to Torrance Hall of Aurora, Colorado; James Hughes Glass, Jr. of Cypress, Texas (Norma Isela Glass) and Kevin Andre Glass of Spring, Texas (Kamela Denise Glass). Together they are loving grandparents to Torrance Hall Jr., Makayla Renee Glass, Kennedy Nicole Glass, and Kelsey Denise Glass. He is also a God Father to Yolanda Williams (Johnny), Ashley Carter, and Brandon Postell. He leaves his wife, children, grandchildren, one brother Julius Wilke and one sister Dolnetta Glass both of Houston, Texas to celebrate his home going. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. James Hughes Glass, Sr. is loved by many just as much as he loved everyone. His love for his Lord and Savior was undeniable. He will be greatly missed. His sudden loss leaves his family and friends with broken hearts. He was a man that will never be forgotten.
