

Born in Houston, Texas on August 1,1957, “Jim”, as he was known to his friends and family, was a 4th generation Houstonian. He was a graduate of St. Thomas High School, and attended both Sam Houston University, and the University of Houston. He spent most of his career as a respected sales and marketing executive for BFM Printing Company, where he was known for his dedication to his clients. Jim changed careers, and relocated to St. Pete’s Beach, Florida, where he worked at the Sirata Hotel up to his early retirement.
Jim loved fishing and golfing. He was also a lifelong Houston Astros, Oiler and Texan football fan. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and his many lifelong friends, too many to name.
Jim was preceded in death by his father James Nelson Hurd, sister Theresa Hurd- Nichols, and brother Stephen Hurd. He is survived by his mother Marjorie Hurd, and brother Michael Hurd, and wife Karen, and niece Jessica Myers and husband Lucas, niece Julia Hurd, and nephew Christopher Nichols.
Jim was special and unique in many ways; he will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering support for his friends and love for his family. His laughter and personality were larger than life, and was special to everyone who knew him.
