Jim was a graduate of Tomball High School. Jim loved all things sports and enjoyed competing in track and field, basketball, and football. Jim went on to attend Sam Houston State University where he graduated with a BBA. Jim loved cheering on his Sam Houston Bearkats in football and wearing his bright orange to show his support.
Jim worked for the City of Houston as a Right-of-Way Appraiser. He also worked in real estate as a broker and invested in apartment complexes.
Jim met his wife, Lois Elliott at church and went on to marry her in December of 2003. Over the last 18 years Jim and Lois enjoyed traveling to exciting destinations In Europe and Hawaii. However, Jim always loved his time close to home in Galveston, where he would celebrate his birthday every year.
Jim enjoyed spending time on the golf course. He was a fan of old western movies, and you could often find him watching an old John Wayne movie or a rerun of Gunsmoke.
Jim was very proud of his Irish heritage and liked participating in the Houston Irish community events, like the annual Irish parade downtown.
Most importantly, Jim loved the Lord with all his heart and every morning could be found with an open Bible. He served as a Deacon at Second Baptist Church and was active in his Bible study class.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Doris & George Neal and brother, Darby Neal. He is survived by his wife Lois E. Neal, Lois’ son, Scott Sage & wife Andrea, their 3 children, Hope, Wes, and Walker, and sister, Mary Dee Neal.
A funeral service for James will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 in the Hankamer Chapel of Second Baptist Church – Woodway Campus at 11 AM, with reception to follow. Processional will proceed to final resting place at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
