

James Lee Taylor, 83, of Houston’s, TX, passed away on May 13, 2025, in the city he called home his entire life. Known affectionately as Butch, James will long be remembered for his unwavering attitude, his vocal personality, and his candid commentary.
Born to JL and Rosalie (Tootsie) Taylor, on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1942, in Houston, James shared his upbringing with his sister Peggy Ann Albert and his late brother Richard (Dick) Taylor.
James married/wed Mary Grace (Martino) Taylor on September 2, 1962. They were married for 62 years and proudly raised Tina (Taylor) Lucore and James Dillon Taylor. James was the loving grandfather to Robert Lucore, Amanda Strycharz, and Mary Lucore.
James was a letter carrier for the postal service throughout the Houston medical center for over 40 years. He frequently told stories of watching the Astrodome and the many hospitals being built. James was an upstanding employee who drove accident free for over a million miles.
James especially enjoyed fishing out in the bay and BBQing for friends and family. He was also known for his winning hand at dominos.
The Taylor family invites all those wishing to celebrate the memory of James to his funeral services on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 5 pm at Forest Park Lawndale.
