Janice Marie Boessling Jack, age 79, of Goodyear, AZ (formerly of Richmond, Victoria and Houston, TX) became the perfect birthday present for her mother in Heaven, joining the celebration in the early hours of Thursday, December 19, 2024, as Jesus restored her mind and body. Janice was born to Edwin Sr. and Bernice Boessling on March 14, 1945, in Houston, TX. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1963, where she met the love of her life, Michael Jack. Janice and Michael were married on April 17, 1964, and together they welcomed their son, Allen, in 1967, followed by their daughter, Sheryl, in 1969.
In 1974, the family moved from Houston to Victoria, Texas, where Janice and Michael worked together at Hi-Lo Auto Parts—Michael as Manager/Owner and Janice as the bookkeeper. As a family, they enjoyed road trips throughout Texas, and as a couple, they traveled on their motorcycle with the Victoria Road Rangers. Janice volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and baseball mom, loving all the neighborhood children as if they were her own. While her children were in high school, Janice earned an associate’s degree from Victoria College.
In 1989, Janice and Michael relocated to Richmond, Texas, where Janice worked at the Fort Bend County District Clerk’s office until her retirement in 2006. Following her retirement, the couple moved to Goodyear, AZ, to be closer to their grandchildren, Joshua and Rebecca. Janice LOVED being a Nana, spoiling her grandchildren and their friends. She attended both Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Goodyear and Summit Community Church in Buckeye.
Janice and Michael shared 56 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2020. After Michael’s death, Janice stayed active by playing cards and visiting with friends, even as she navigated life with dementia. She cherished being outdoors and enjoyed walks with her caregivers and friends.
Janice is survived by her son, Allen of Houston; her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Matthew White of Goodyear; her granddaughter, Rebecca of Goodyear; her brother and sister-in-law, Edwin Jr. and Judith Boessling of Houston; and her bonus daughter, Linda Brown Henning of Houston. She is also survived by three loved fur babies, two nephews and their families, and numerous friends and extended family members.
In addition to her husband, Michael, Janice was preceded in death by her father, Edwin, in 1971; her stepfather, Grady, in 1999; her beloved grandson, Joshua, in 2019; and her mother, Bernice, in January 2024.
The family deeply appreciates the compassionate care Janice received from the staff of Compassionate Home Care, Hacienda del Rey, and Hospice of the Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Meals of Joy (mealsofjoy.org) or 72andyou.org.
Funeral services and interment: Thursday 1/16 at 2p under the direction of Earthman Resthaven 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A Celebration of Life will be held in Goodyear at a later date.
