Janis Lee Goodman of Deer Park, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 26, 1947, in Houston, Texas, to Donald O. Henry and Ruth Willine Henry (Drinkwater).
Janis was a devoted wife, loving mother, and deeply cherished grandmother and great grandmother. She was known by all who met her as one of the kindest and most selfless souls. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a special way of making people feel welcomed, loved, and valued.
Janis had a lifelong love for antiques and the joy of discovering unique treasures. Over the years she owned and operated several resale and antique shops, turning something she truly loved into a small business she was proud of. She had a wonderful eye for beautiful pieces, and her home reflected that gift. It was always warm, welcoming, and filled with character from the special treasures she found along the way.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Whether it was fun nights spent bowling, special family vacations, or simply spending time together, Janis treasured every moment with the people she loved most. She was the heart of her family, and the memories she created will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, her husband, Harry Lanell Goodman Jr.; her mother and father in law, Lois and Harry Goodman Sr.; and her brothers in laws, Scottie and Donnie Goodman.
She is survived by her children Chris Goodman and Corine, Gary Goodman and Rebecca, and Dawn Boudreaux and Shannon; her brother Donald Ray Henry and his wife Linda; and her in laws Brenda and Bill Muench, Belinda and Jerry Black, Debbie and John Barbosa, and Peggy Goodman.
Janis was a proud grandmother to 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, all of whom brought her endless joy and pride. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in her heart.
Janis will be remembered for her kindness, her selfless love, and the gentle way she cared for everyone around her. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and the many lives she touched. Though she is no longer with us, the love Janis poured into her family will continue to guide and comfort them for generations to come.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, US, on April 11, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, US, on April 11, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm.
A Committal Service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, US, on April 11, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm.
