I am deeply saddened to hear of your passing! I had been trying to find you in social media for the past 5+ years and now I know why. Rest on my dear classmate. We went way back since 2nd grade. I know that you are free from your pain and in the presence of God! Prayers for the entire family, friends and this whose lives you impacted! Rest on Jarvis! Well done.

My memories of J go back to his infant days when he often visited my family and me, a recent phone call to wish him a Happy Birthday , and watching his cooking videos via You Tube.  Rest in peace Sweet Soul.  Love, Tee Drea

Chef was always soulful, I remember the vibes we would create when we would cook in his kitchen, and it was all because of him. I remember when he gave me my nickname “pretty” because I would always have my nails and makeup when I wasn’t supposed to he said “you just wanna be pretty so that’s what I’m gonna call you”. He made me and the other students feel safe and comfortable. I always had fun especially before holiday breaks it was like we were one big family.  He was so kindhearted and wouldn’t mind if we needed someone to talk to even though he was hurting so much more than us. He spent his last days caring for so many children and he really made a difference in my life. I wouldn’t even know how to cook if it was because of him. He didn’t make me feel alone when I was in his class and I wish I could’ve told him all of this before he passed. Thank you Chef.

This was on chefs bday he was already feeling sick and we wanted to try and cheer him up. He always had a strong act on no matter how much pain he was in. he was such a bright soul. Me and the rest of the class all had one card and we all wrote a little message for him and all put our names by it. I made everyone in the class surround his desk. he was so confused on to what we were doing and thought we were just messing around. i wish i would’ve cherished this day more. Chef left a huge impact on not just me but our whole class and we miss him dearly. he wanted nothing but the best for us and even if he got on us a lot was because he wanted us to do good things in life. he wanted us to be the best version of ourself. i wish he had got to do everything he planned for us, but i know now he is in peace now and no longer in pain.

Creating this message is one of the hardest things I have done.  I knew you to be a great person and friend.  Our conversations were always filled with laughter and even when you were not feeling well, you did not speak defeat.  I trust what God has done and I pray that your family experiences the peace of God like never before.

I got to hug you and speak to you the Friday before you went home to the most high. I got to say I love you and show it. I am content. I will definitely see you again. Have my gumbo ready. 

Chef darensburg was my chef teacher in langham creek high school. He was honest and valuable man, he was one of those teachers where he would be honest with everything and any opinion that you had he would give you his honest answer towards you, and I feel like that’s what made him a caring and honest teacher in my opinion. Yes, sometimes he was mean, but I feel like that was him trying to pressure us into becoming good in life. He didn’t want to see us unsuccessful. He wanted to see you succeed in life he wanted to see us do good and not be working a minimum wage job for the rest of our lives and I feel like that’s one thing that I can never forget that he really taught us so much in the time when I was in high school. I just sent prayers to his family to his kids to everyone that he loved. He was definitely a good man and he will be watching over us whenever wherever any time of the day one day I will make him proud I’m not gonna say my name, but I was definitely someone in his class that he tried to pressure to become good in life

My prayers and condolences to the family. As a colleague, I was so intrigued to watch him coach our students in the kitchen. He was thorough and consistent. I was so inspired by his teaching style and relationships with his students. May God continue to watch over his family and loved ones.

I have so many memories of Jarvis that I will cherish for a lifetime.  One I will share  is our love for cooking. I am creole and  come from a family of chefs and great cooks. So, he was always feeding me. Our Christmas Party I planned I had seafood gumbo on the menu. While I waited for his approval he gave me a #2.  He told me when he would  returned in February he would cook me some and show me.  Well Jarvis I just moved up to #1. Until we meet again. My friend take you rest! 

Dear Jarvis’ Loved Ones,

I am so sorry for your loss. Jarvis loved cooking  with his students. I believe one of his favorite activities was preparing them for cupcake battles. He would always make our day when having staff judge the students’ creations. May you all find comfort in your memories.
