

Jean Francis Toles, otherwise known as "Jean Francis" or "Aunt Jean" transitioned from this life on May 22, 2015 at the age of 81. She was born on January 1, 1934, in Calvert, Texas to the union of W. D. Toles and Bessie Van Dorn. She had 5 siblings and would always inform you that she was the oldest, smartest and wisest. Jean resided in Houston, Texas her entire life and attended Houston Public Schools. At an early age she became a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend A.A. Lucas. She was the mother of two sons Michael and Phillip Toles. Later in life she united in marriage to William Jeffrey. She was a long term employee of Dr. Earl Shelp and in return he was more than her boss but a devoted lifelong friend. Jean had a loving heart, and enjoyed more than anything having her family, nieces and nephews around her. Her hobbies of fishing and crabbing made her cooking have a flair and anything she cooked was tasty and spicy. When she spoke, it was from her heart and to the point whether you liked it or not and she was always willing to give even if it was her last. She was preceeded in death by her parents, brother, John W. Hollie and son Phillip Van Dorn Toles. She lives to cherish her memory her son Michael Toles (Loretta), grandchildren, Danielle, Chris, Brice Toles and 3 great grandchildren. Her sisters: Bessie Joyce Black, Lenora Toles Wilkerson, Veola Marie Edwards and her brother Sammie Leo Green. Nieces: Cynthia Arnold (Michael), Regina Hightower (David), Sheila Wheatfall, Deborah Wheatfall, Kimberly Edwards -Fitts and Michelle Parker (Michael). Nephews: Daryl Wilkerson (Diane). Kevin Wilkerson (Teresa) and Donald Black, along with numerous cousins and friends.
