

On August 22, 1936 in Longview, TX God gave the late Elnora and Jeffrey Green Sr. a wonderful son whom they named Jeffrey Green Jr. He is preceded in death by five sisters: Annie Lee, Elizabeth, Frankie, Lily and Merdish; two brothers: Jack and Roscoe. "Sonny" as he was known to family and close friends graduated from Womack High School in Longview, TX. Shortly after, Jeffrey enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country proudly for more than ten years. After leaving the Navy Jeffrey participated in the Naval Reserves and Recruiting programs. In Houston, TX Jeffrey started a new chapter in his life working as a Postman for the United States Postal Service. In addition to working as a Postman, Jeffrey attended South Texas Jr. College where he took various educational courses. He went on to attend Texas Southern University where he obtained a Bachelors of Science and a Masters in Elementary Education. He also attended South Texas Law School and Lone Star College where he took numerous Paralegal and Law courses. After graduating from college Jeffrey pursued a career as a Physical Education Coach; Reading and English Teacher. Jeffrey taught at several (Fonville Middle School, Northwood Middle School, OakVillage Middle School and Shadydale Elementary) schools throughout the City of Houston for over fifth-teen years. Jeffrey always believed in having more than one job. His other career pursuits consisted of working at Maxwell Coffee, Cyrus One and Securitas. Jeffrey had a great passion for fulfilling life and leadership. He made friends everywhere he went. He loved his children unconditionally and encouraged them to constantly reach their full potential in life. Aside from being a friend to everyone and a caring father, Jeffrey had many hobbies and personal talents. He loved to play golf and participated in many tournaments. Jeffrey also liked to record music, writing; calligraphy, short stories, narratives, poetry, and trilogies. A part of Jeffrey's Christian journey began at East Bethel Baptist Church. He went on to become a faithful member of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church (under the leadership of Rev. William Lawson) where he served as a mentor in the Boys Rights of Passage Program. After leaving Wheeler Avenue he continued his Christian journey by visiting a number of churches within the state of Texas. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: one daughter: Kimberly Y. Green; three sons: Eric, Gregory (Marcia) and Kevin; two grandchildren: Jolie and Joshua; three sisters: Lou Ann, Ruby, and Willie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
