Jenavi Victoria Saldana

Born on June 1, 1987, in Houston, Texas, Jenavi was the daughter of Jesse Saldana, Jr. and Debra Liscano Saldana. Although she could be quiet when first meeting someone, it didn't take long for her warm personality to shine through. She quickly engaged in conversation, embraced new experiences, and truly enjoyed life.

Jenavi is survived by her husband, Adam Duran, and her mother, Debra Liscano Saldana; her half-brother, Jesse Saldana, III; her uncle, Ray Liscano (Mary); her aunts, Rebecca Watson and Hope Lopez (Louis); the Duran family; and numerous cousins who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Saldana, Jr.; her beloved grandparents, Eloy and Maria Liscano, and Jesse, Sr. and Sara Saldana; her uncle, Florence Saldana; and her aunts, Esther DeLeon and Rachel Flores; and her in-laws, Lillian and Alex Duran.

Jenavi was employed at the Children's Museum. Jenavi's journey began in 2016 when she joined the museum as a Discovery Guide. Over the years, through her dedication, warmth, and leadership, she rose through the ranks and became an invaluable member of the Visitor Experience Team. She also worked as a nanny for the Ahmed family, caring for their two young boys. She loved the boys as if they were her own, and the family held a special place in her heart. Caring for children seemed to be her true calling.

A proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School Teaching Professions program Class of 2005, Jenavi was recognized as a Texas Scholar and was an active member of Student Council and the Drama program. She was also a cheerleader from 2002 to 2005 and proudly served as Head Cheerleader during her senior year. Fearless in the physical demands of the sport, she especially treasured the camaraderie and lifelong friendships she shared with her teammates. Inspired by her love for children, she pursued college coursework with the goal of becoming a teacher.

Outside of work, Jenavi cherished spending time with her beloved husband, Adam. The two enjoyed playing video games together, and she took great pride in beating him whenever she had the chance. She was a devoted movie enthusiast, with The Wizard of Oz holding a special place as one of her all-time favorites. Jenavi also enjoyed dining out, often sharing meals and making memories with her mom, husband, family and/or friends. She was an avid fan of professional wrestling, loved immersing herself in a good book, and treasured her ever-growing book collection. A gifted storyteller, Jenavi also found joy in writing short stories and poetry, allowing her creativity and imagination to shine.

Above all, Jenavi will be remembered for her kind and accepting heart. She was loyal, loving, and deeply caring toward those around her. She did not hold grudges, welcomed people without judgment, and made others feel valued for who they were. Her warmth, compassion, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing.
