At nine years old, Jerome was baptized at Holman Street Baptist Church and was a member of that church for many years. Jerome attended elementary school in the Houston Independent School District and graduated high school in Marshall, Texas.
His love for “tinkering” with things led him into the engineering path. After college, he worked as an engineer for Bechtel Corporation and Ebasco Services, Inc. His last engineering position was as vice president with Washington International Group. For six years Jerome also owned and operated Club Re-Mix. The last few years he was at home serving as a caregiver to his wife, Algie.
Jerome leaves to mourn his wife of 43 years, Algie Swift: his two children, Steven Swift and Allison Swift (Terrance, fiancé); grandchildren, Paityn and Channing; mother, Dorothy Johnson; brothers-in-law, Hallen and Bervick Anderson; sister in law, Edna Anderson; siblings, Rhonda Johnson (Clarence), Obelia Johnson and Darrin Johnson; aunts, Bonnie Julian (James) and Zetta Ward. Also, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jerome was well loved and will be missed.
