Over the course of a long and steady working life, Jerry served for 50 years as chief engineer for various companies, including PRMG, Boxer Company, and Harris County Sheriff Baker Street Jail Facility. His days were marked by the kind of dependable effort that others could count on—work done thoroughly, responsibilities carried without fanfare, and challenges met with quiet resilience.
Jerry was previously married and was the proud father of two children, Curtis Carr and Tracy Silverstein.
Away from work, Jerry found joy in pursuits that reflected both skill and curiosity. He loved working on cars and was an avid pool player, winning several tournaments. On his days off, he enjoyed traveling to see the old caverns throughout Texas and New Mexico. Those who spent time with him also knew him as a great story teller, someone who could hold a room with the simple power of a well-told tale.
Jerry lived his life “my way,” as his favorite singer Elvis Presley sang about. He was hard working and was always willing to lend a hand—steady in his commitments, practical in his care for others, and present when he was needed.
He is survived by his son, Curtis Carr; his daughters, Tracy Silverstein and Lisa Nichols; his son-in-law, Blake Silverstein; and his grandsons, Jeremiah Silverstein, Adrien Gallegos, and Anthony Banuelols, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Last but not least, his beloved Pomeranian, Coco. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Francis Boyett, his brother, Earl Boyett, and his sisters, Linda Bolt and Gail Pendley.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Hudson, Eddie Hudson Jr., Joe Shaw, Adrien Gallegos, Anthony Banuelos, and Scott Hallmark.
