

Jerry Max Sorrick was born on July 8, 1930 and passed away August 27, 2023 at the age of 93. He was raised in Blue Rapids, Kansas. His father was a pharmacist and owned a pharmacy in Blue Rapids. Growing up Jerry worked in his dad’s pharmacy to help support the family. After graduating from High School, Jerry attended and graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952. Soon after graduation, he had a call from Uncle Sam and served in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Division and was stationed in Germany.
After completing his obligation for military service, he attended Washburn University of Topeka and graduated in 1957 with a Bachler of Laws degree. While at Washburn he married the love of his life Delores Stritesky. After graduation Jerry went to work for Travelers Insurance. His job took him to Wichita, Kansas and then to Connecticut for a few years. He then transferred to Houston where he worked for Travelers until he retired.
Jerry was an avid glider pilot and loved soring the skies Northwest of Houston. He also volunteered for several years with the Commemorative Air Force. Jerry is survived by his wife of 68 years, Delores. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Floyd and Lola Sorrick and brother Floyd Sorrick Jr.
A celebration of life for Jerry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, 77055.
