Jerry T. Sowden

Jerry T. Sowden 75, of Channelview, TX passed on May 21, 2011 at Houston Hospice after complications from a heart valve replacement surgery. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June F. Sowden and 3 living children: Terry Sowden Giancaterino, Janice Sowden Foraker, Brittany Paige Sowden and deceased daughter Mary Louise Sowden, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and Sister Judy Sowden Farrer. Jerry was born September 13, 1935 in Houston, TX and graduated from San Marcos Baptist Academy in 1954. He served his country 1954-1957 first in Honshu, Japan then in the 82nd airborne as a paratrooper at Fort Bragg, NC. His second tour in 1966-1969 as a drill Sgt. in the Vietnam campaign. Jerry also served as a volunteer with the Texas State Guard he received many service medals from all of his military endeavors, too many to list. He later went into law enforcement, Deputy Constable at PCT 3 then as a City Marshall and retired from Harris County Sheriff Dept. as a Deputy Sheriff. Friends are cordially invited to join the family for the visitation on Wednesday, May 25th from 5:30-8:00pm and services on Thursday, May 26th at 2:30pm at The Chapel Of Angles both at Forest Park Lawndale 6900 Lawndale Avenue in Houston.
