After many months of illness and a liver transplant in March 2025, our beloved firstborn Jessica Kate Rocha-Hobbins (Aunt Jay Jay) passed away peacefully in her home on September 7th. She was 39 years young.
Jessica graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 2005 and Sam Houston State University in 2009 with a degree in Criminal Justice. She was an extremely protective and proud older sister to her siblings, Megan and T.J. She loved her nieces and nephews with all her heart, and enjoyed helping to organize their birthday parties.
Jessica was very close to her maternal grandmother, Earline McAndrew (Nannie), requesting to be buried next to her. Nannie never missed an opportunity to remind Jessica about the night she was born - "It was raining so hard that night, but I got in my car and drove all the way to the hospital." In the last few months of Nannie living in her home, Jessica would spend most weekends watching football, Wheel of Fortune, and Judge Judy with her.
Jessica moved to Richmond, Texas in 2021, purchasing a home and working as a paralegal. She met her husband, Scott Hobbins, shortly afterward. Jessica became a mother figure to Scott's two daughters, Elizabeth and Kadence, and strived to be a positive influence in their lives. Before becoming ill, Jessica and Scott were planning their wedding but eventually married in the hospital on May 5th of this year. They had hoped to have a big party once her health improved.
Jessica was a wonderful daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, and friend. She is survived by her parents, Tony and Shannon Rocha; paternal grandfather Gerald Morgan; siblings Megan Harwood and husband Nick, and T.J. and his wife Merilee; nieces Lavender and Collins; nephews Forrest and James; husband Scott Hobbins; and stepdaughters Elizabeth and Kadence. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local animal shelter in Jessica's name. Additionally, please consider donating blood and becoming an organ donor.
