Jessie Carol Wright Darilek

Jessie Carol Wright Darilek passed away on April 9, 2011. She was born in Houston, Texas, November 2, 1919, to Mary Christena Alsup Wright and William Garrison Wright. Carol grew up in Houston and was a 1937 graduate of Jefferson Davis High School and worked at Cravens, Dargan and Company until 1945.

She married Dan Darilek on July 3, 1943 and raised two sons. Served as PTA Officer, Cub Scout Den Mother, baseball and basketball mother, church volunteer and friend and helper to many. She was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church.

In 1959, she began work for HISD at Hartman Junior High School until retiring in 2000. After retiring she worked as Registrar at HISD Night High School on the Milby High School campus until 2004.

She was preceded in death by her grand parents Emily Missouri Garrison and Willess D. Wright and Martha Jane Baskin and Joseph Franklin Alsup, her parents, her husband Dan in 2006 and eight brothers and sisters: John Garrison Wright and wife Erma Frasier Wright, Mary Della Wright Ogletree and husband James Ogletree, Fisher Alsup Wright and wife Berle Houston Wright, Emily Wright Jones and husband James Lester Jones, Robert Ace Wright and wife Helen Ludtke Wright, Bertha Wright Simpson and husband Rayond Simpson, Mildred Wright Comiskey preceded in death by husband Velmont S. Crittenden, Sr., and husband Ross Comiskey, Archie Lee Wright Parker and husband Al Parker.

She is survived by sons Dan Darilek and wife Jeanette Hollingsworth Darilek and Robert Wright Darilek and wife Gayle Wooldridge Darilek; grandchildren Andrea Lynn Darilek, and husband Greg Tober, Allen Daniel Darilek and wife Shannon McGee Darilek, Robin Hopper and husband Bobby Hopper, David Robert Darilek and wife Tamara, Robert Wright Darilek, Jr. and Alicia Darilek; great grandchildren Caleb Tober, Ashlyn Darilek, Carson Darilek, Bobby Hopper, III, Ethan Hopper and Cody Hopper and many nieces, nephews and friends.

At Carol’s direction, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 10am to 11am o’clock, followed by entombment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Father Paul Chovanec will conduct the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity or organization of choice.
