
Mrs. Jewel Jenkins was born on May 26, 1943 to Gill and Leola Davis Jr. in Houston, Texas. Jewel grew up in the west end of the city and attended Booker T. Washington High School and Texas Southern University. She met and married James Nelson and to this union(1)one son was born(Reginald K. Nelson)...James passed on in February of 1972. Jewel late met and married Veanes Jenkins and to this union(1)one son was born(Terrence Jenkins)...Veanes passed on in December of 2003. Sister Jewel Jenkins accepted Christ at an early age with St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member who truly loved the Lord. Jewel was employed with Gulf Coast Head Start, where she served dutifully for (33)thirty three years. She completed her career with Empowering Options where she worked for (7)seven years. In her leisure she enjoyed singing in the church choir, decorating the church with beautiful flower arrangements, working in the kitchen, and shopping. Sister Jenkins really enjoyed helping other. She was so thoughtful and always thinking of others. On your birthday she would always bake a cake. On Mother's Day and Father's Day she acknowledged all mothers and fathers by giving them a small token of her love. Jewel always had an encouraging word for all. Her beautiful smile will never be forgotten and her lovely spirit will live on forever in all the lives she touched. As her name implied she was a "JEWEL". Jewel Jenkins moved from labor to reward on July 6, 2012. She was preceeded in death by both husbands, mother, father,(4)four brothers and (3)three sisters and (1)one grandchild. She leaves to cherish her memory(2)two sons, Reginald K. Nelson(Reba), and Terrence L. Jenkins. (4)Four grandchildren Krystal"Delight"Nelson, Dante Nelson, Soloman Allen, Destiny Johnson;Special Famiy"The Adams";(2)two brothers Rev. Herman Davis(Willie), Weldon Davis(Cohen),(1)one sister Earl Beatrice Lewis(Winzell) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
