

Jimmy Joe Ortiz, of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was born on October 31, 1953, in Houston, Texas, and lived a life filled with laughter, loyalty, service, and love for his family and friends.
Jimmy was the third son born to Servando and Ramona Ortiz in Houston, Texas. He married Olga Ortiz in 1972. They were married for 22 years and raised three children: Jimmy, Jessica and Judy.
Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army for six years. His military service reflected the strength, dedication, and pride that remained with him throughout his life. He retired as a truck driver with the United States Postal Service.
He was a man who truly enjoyed life and the simple things that brought people together. Jimmy loved puzzles, poker, bacon, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and above all, having a good time with the people he loved. He had a warm smile, a great sense of humor, and a way of making every gathering brighter just by being there.
Jimmy will be remembered for his joyful spirit, his love of laughter, and the many memories he created with family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, fun, and togetherness that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Jimmy Jr., Jessica, and Judy; and his grandchildren, Jimmy III, Matthew, Nevaeh, and Miracle.
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas 77023.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., also at Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas 77023.
Following the service, Jimmy will be transported for burial at Veterans National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. It is located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038.
Jimmy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his service, his laughter, and the good times he shared so freely. His memory will live on in every family gathering, every shared story, every card game, and every Dallas Cowboys game watched in his honor.
The family would like to thank Beth for also loving and being there for our father in the final months and days of his life.
