JoAnn Cothran

JoAnn Cothran, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue to live on in the hearts of all her descendants and friends.

JoAnn loved God with her whole heart. She spread mustard seeds of faith in every place she went. She prayed for everyone, and interceded for those who needed it. She spread the love that Jesus gave to her. Her faith did not waiver.

JoAnn was a devoted wife and a loving mother whose family was the center of her world. She gave generously of herself, always offering love, encouragement, and a helping hand. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come.

Those who knew JoAnn will remember her for her warm heart, generous spirit, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She had a special way of making people feel welcomed and cared for, and her presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her.

Although her passing leaves a deep emptiness, JoAnn's love and the memories she created will remain. Her family will carry her lessons, her laughter, and her love with them always. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

JoAnn Cothran was born February 22, 1938 in Houston, Texas, to Emil Steve Wolcik and Georgia Bernadine Wolcik. After marrying Monroe (Monty) Lee Cothran, they moved to Florida and then landed in San Antonio, Texas, where she spent her adult life as a Co-Owner of M. L. Cothran and Associates and later as a homemaker. JoAnn was known for her deep love of children — After raising her own children, she helped raise her grandchildren, staying with all of them for their first few years of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Alan Wolcik of Baytown, Texas. She is survived by her husband Monty Cothran of Houston, TX, her three children Larry Cothran of Hondo, TX (wife Aileen), her daughter Joanna Teitel of Houston, TX (husband Philip), her daughter Wendy Ezernack of Missouri City, Texas (husband Joseph), six grand-children (Esra, Acacia, Obed, Jessica, Carolyn JoAnn and William) and four great grand-children (Benjamin, Jaxon, Cairo and Korra).

JoAnn Cothran passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 18, 2026 in Houston, Texas, at the age of 88. Her life was marked by family, friends and a lifelong devotion to her faith in God.
