Joanne Kmiecik

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Joanne Kmiecik, age 78, must announce her passing on the afternoon of August 12, 2020. Joanne was born on December 4, 1941, in Houston, Texas, to Edgar and Lorene. After attending St. Agnes Academy in Houston, Texas, Joanne graduated with her high school diploma. She went on to work in the banking industry for the majority of her life until an injury led to her retirement in 1992.

Joanne loved sewing, quilting, and crocheting. Like most crafters, she had a stockpile of fabric, yarn, and nearly every other sewing supply known to mankind. We often joked that she could help supply the fabric stores if they ever ran low.

She also loved football, especially college football. Though she was a lifelong Longhorn fan, when her granddaughter began college at Texas A&M University, she found love in her heart for the Aggies as well. She even loved listening to the Aggie war hymn until she realized it was written about her beloved Longhorns. Joanne was also a devoted NASCAR fan; she never missed a race and dreamed of attending a race at Daytona Motor Speedway one day. We would be remiss not to mention just how much Joanne adored her fur-babies; her dog Bailey and grand-dog Kodi always brightened her day.

Joanne spent her last days doing what she enjoyed most, spending time with her family. Joanne is survived by her son, Aaron Kmiecik, and daughter, Andra Kmiecik Symmonds; her granddaughters Mackenzie Symmonds and Krysta Kmiecik Jones as well as her husband Joshua Jones; her grandsons Alan Kmiecik and Alston Kmiecik; and her great-granddaughter Bryntley Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Lorene; her husband Thomas Kmiecik; her son Adam Kmiecik; her granddaughter Brandie Kmiecik, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A rosary service will be held on August 21, 2020, at 11:00 am with a funeral mass to follow at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 N Frazier Street, Conroe, Texas. A committal service will be held on August 21, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas.
