Joe served in World War II in the Philippines as a chef and continued his love of cooking throughout his life. After the war Joe met his wife Lucy Louise Bonanno, he would recall, the first time I saw Lucy I knew she would be my bride.
Joe affectionately known as “Daddy” was quite the entrepreneur. He owned and operated the “Melrose” clothing store in Dickinson, Texas, as well as, the “Shalimar Coiffures Salon” in Houston, Texas over 20 years.
Joe was an avid fisherman with many tails to tell of fishing on Lake Sam Rayburn in the heart of East Texas piney woods where he and his wife lived after retirement. Joe’s optimistic nature was an attribute anyone would recognize after spending any length of time with him.
